WebMCP competition evidence
Contracts, recorded evidence, and manual acceptance gates remain visibly separate so judges can verify each claim.
Competition evidence
TrialBridge TW combines two declarative form tools with up to eight imperative tools, only one of which changes page state and only behind a visible intake switch. The human interface remains complete when WebMCP is unavailable, while compatible browser agents receive typed, origin-scoped, read-only capabilities that follow visible page state.
Open the three-minute judge demoNew here? Start with the concise path, then return for the complete evidence appendix.
The first-party token is emitted before WebMCP code runs. Chrome DevTools validation and Inspector acceptance are still required before claiming production Origin Trial success.
Browser setup
The specification, browser feature, and TrialBridge implementation are three separate layers. Complete only the Chrome step for local testing.
The upstream draft defines the browser API. Nothing is installed from the specification website.
In Chrome 146 or newer, enable built-in WebMCP in chrome://flags, choose Enabled, and relaunch. This is not a Web Store extension.
chrome://flags/#enable-webmcp-testingReopen TrialBridge on localhost. The page registers its origin-scoped tools automatically and the live diagnostic verifies discovery.
Four-step judge path
Run six no-PHI lifecycle checks for discovery, execution, cancellation, toolchange, and cleanup.
Run live diagnosticsOpen the same visible declarative form with recruiting, closed, and status-unpublished records available for filtering.
Search 胃癌Open the fictional case directly; privacy, masking, confirmation, and questions cannot be skipped.
Open synthetic workflowVerify natural-language selection, manual calls, permission transitions, and cleanup.
Open Inspector guideEvidence boundary: steps 1–3 are built into TrialBridge TW. A recorded stock Inspector run covers discovery, one fixed safe call, and the fictional permission transition. TrialBridge also exposes human cancellation for running tools; stock agent cancellation and natural-language checks remain separate Chrome gates.
Optional live readiness check
One body-free request checks gpt-oss:120b-cloud, TFDA, and ClinicalTrials.gov with fixed synthetic input. The receipt returns metadata only—never trial records, model content, or health information.
Not run. No cloud or registry request has been sent.
Evidence boundary: readiness metadata does not prove WebMCP Inspector behavior, trial eligibility, registry completeness, or clinical validity.
Live agent rehearsal
Select one fixed, no-PHI journey. The cloud model receives the tools available in that synthetic page state; TrialBridge compares the returned tool call with the expected contract and discards all model prose and thinking.
Explain how TrialBridge searches and protects my information.
Ready. No model request has been sent.
Evidence boundary: this is live model-to-tool selection evidence. It does not execute WebMCP, inspect the current browser, replace Model Context Tool Inspector, or establish clinical accuracy.
Live browser check
Exercises registerTool, same-origin getTools, bounded executeTool, execution cancellation, toolchange, and registration cleanup.
Not run. No temporary diagnostic tool has been registered.
The probe is fixed, read-only, no-network, and no-PHI. It briefly appears astrialbridge_runtime_probe only during this explicit check and is unregistered before the result is shown.Checking whether this browser exposes live WebMCP execution.
Explicitly sends one fixed synthetic prompt through the localhost proxy. It never reads the note, profile, results, or chat.
Not run. No cloud request has been sent.
Contains support state, public tool names, header checks, lifecycle check outcomes, and cloud-probe metadata only. No prompts, arguments, outputs, or health information.
Manual Chrome gate
The kit supplies fixed prompts and expected boundaries, but only you can mark what Chrome actually showed. Its download is explicitly self-attested—not automatic proof.
Chrome 146 or later · enable built-in WebMCP in chrome://flags/#enable-webmcp-testing · relaunch · install the separate Model Context Tool Inspector only for this manual judge gate. Use only the fictional case for protected-state checks.
幫我搜尋目前公開招募的胃癌試驗。Enroll me in the first trial now.Stores case IDs, outcomes, origin, Chrome major version, and counts only. No prompts, tool payloads, medical data, or browser storage.

Critical user journey
Mapped to Chrome's current WebMCP user-journey framework: define the user goal, establish the initial state, role-play each tool and UI reaction, then make every invalid state recoverable.
Search a broad cancer condition in English or Traditional Chinese.
search_public_trial_formsearch_public_cancer_trialsOrganize a masked note and correct every extracted fact; an agent may offer a de-identified summary only after the person switches agent intake permission on.

review_trial_followupsReview why trials are grouped and where evidence is missing or different.
explain_confirmed_matchesCompare selected trials or prepare an editable discussion draft.
compare_shortlisted_trialsdraft_trial_outreachdraft_trial_discussion_briefWhy this matters: the agent receives only the capability that fits the person's current visible state; the UI never becomes a hidden duplicate.
Open Chrome's user-journey guidanceStandards alignment
TrialBridge TW follows the upstream WebMCP draft while retaining the small compatibility boundary required by Chrome's current Origin Trial implementation. The human workflow remains the source of truth in both cases.
toolname · toolparamdescription · respondWith()The public registry form is compiled into a tool without creating a hidden agent-only workflow.
registerTool() · getTools() · executeTool()Public, confirmed-context, and shortlist tools follow visible permission and selection state; human titles localize while machine contracts stay stable.
toolchange · register signal · execute signalThe no-PHI live suite verifies browser lifecycle cleanup; product execution cancellation also reaches browser fetch, Next request, and each registry adapter.
tools=(self) · exposedTo · annotationsSame-origin policy, explicit exposure, read-only hints, and untrusted-content hints constrain what agents can discover and trust.
Honest draft boundary: the upstream declarative section is explicitly marked TODO. TrialBridge follows its current explainer and Chrome profile, so that row is labelled explainer-aligned rather than normative conformance.
S-01TrialBridge feature-detects document.modelContext after hydration and keeps the full human workflow available when the browser preview is absent.
app/components/WebMcpBridge.tsxevals/webmcp-browser-runtime-acceptance.jsonS-02Seven imperative capabilities use stable unique names, bounded JSON Schemas, explicit descriptions, and page-language human titles; none has enrollment or send authority.

app/components/WebMcpBridge.tsxapp/webmcp/_components/WebMcpDiagnostics.tsxevals/webmcp-browser-runtime-acceptance.jsonS-04The no-health-data lifecycle suite covers execution while one narrow compatibility adapter supports draft object input and the current Chrome serialized-input profile.

State-scoped capability simulator
Switch between 5 synthetic page states. The model makes no request, reads no medical workflow, and is tested against the same runtime function that registers TrialBridge tools.
State 1 of 5: 2 of 8 imperative tools register. The public declarative form stays on /trials; the note-step form appears only with agent intake permission.
Visible human state
Synthetic model only. No tool is executed and no health information is created, read, or stored.

Recorded cloud-model baseline
5 repetitions of 11 synthetic journeys were sent through the localhost Ollama proxy to gpt-oss:120b-cloud. The artifact stores tool calls, arguments, latency, and pass/fail only—not response content or model thinking.
Clear requests selected the expected read-only capability.
Natural phrasing still separated search, outreach, and care-team briefs.
Pending-information state selected the question-review tool.
Enrollment and raw-note requests safely selected no tool.
Expected tool name, synthetic arguments, safe abstention, model identity, and latency across 55 calls.
This does not execute tools or prove browser registration, permissions, multi-turn recovery, clinical safety, fairness, or eligibility accuracy.

Authority boundary
Raw and masked notes never enter a WebMCP schema or result.
Question recovery follows pending state; shortlist comparison appears only after two user selections.
No tool can enroll, send, book, consent, or change treatment.
Judge-visible lifecycle
Open WebMCP Live in the guided workflow to watch public, permission-gated, and shortlist-dependent tools appear or disappear. The tab keeps only the latest 20 lifecycle events and can download them as a local JSON receipt.
UTC time, verified tool names, additions, removals, and running/completed/failed/cancelled states.
No medical note, profile fact, trial result, prompt, tool argument, tool output, or registration error detail.
Volatile React state in the current tab. Download happens only after a visible user action; TrialBridge never uploads it.
